Mission Statement
The mission of LifeRelease is to share grassroots efforts made around the world to save and protect lives, especially those that are in immediate danger or helpless. The life preserving efforts organized by LifeRelease are based on the ancient Buddhist practice of “life-release.” Historically Buddhist practitioners would save the lives of animals who were about to be killed, bless them in a formal ceremony, and then set them free in an environment where they could live out their natural lives protected from danger. The blessing ceremony would create the causes for the animals to be reborn with a precious human birth. We hope that LifeRelease will inspire future individual and group efforts to save and protect life. May these collective efforts be a cause for greater peace, less violence and killing in this world. In addition, may those that engage in these efforts benefit themselves through the cultivation of compassion, skillful means and wisdom, and ultimately find inner peace. LifeRelease does not engage in political activities or abortion/pro-life activities.
